Kamala Harris’s team played an absolute blinder.

All this while we were led to believe that Josh Shapiro was going to be the Vice-Presidential nominee of the Democrat Party ahead of the November elections.

And we were blown by the actual choice —Tim Walz.

I must confess that the only thing I knew about this centrist dad looking politician was the footage of his signing the free breakfast and lunch for school kids initiative, in his state and the reaction of the children at the end of this ceremony.

Given the man’s political antecedents in Congress and in the governor’s mansion, it became quickly clear why he was chosen ahead of the competition: his staunch defense of LGBTQQIA and women’s reproductive rights; his support of universal healthcare and championing literacy for convicted felons.

But not everyone’s happy about the choice of the Minnesota governor as the VP nominee.

And who might they be?

Venture capitalists and tech bros.

No sooner was the announcement made than Bill Ackman and Elon Musk threw their toys out of the pram tweeting that the Democrats were anti-Semitic and sleeping walking into a major defeat in November.

In their eyes, the Pennsylvania governor was the best of the lot and he should have been the nominee.

And it is imperative that we ask, if they were right in their assessments of the political terrain? Are the Democrats on course for a seismic defeat in November? Or are these obscenely wealthy fighting the battles of the 99 percent, with their pronouncements?

In my humble opinion, these oligarchs have never had the best interests of the American people at heart.

And their interests are exactly why our societies are such an almighty mess.
