It is no exaggeration to state that Medium is largely a left wing space.
And what this means is that you are more than likely to read people — Black, white and brown — who are fervently anti-racist and generally espouse progressive views on hot button subjects, such as abortion rights, gender equality etc.
Even with writers like Argumentative Penguin who can be described as contrarian and provocative, our protagonist is something of a moderate on a vast number of subjects.
And it is starting to grate with me a bit.
Why?
I would love to read writers whose political views are to the right of the political spectrum: folks who are prepared to argue for a smaller state, less migration, the end of Affirmative Action and in support of the second coming of Trump.
And I would love to read people who are prepared to mount a solid defence of neoliberalism and the very many good things which it has done throughout the world in the last forty years.
There are folks like Lester Goldman, whom I think is a bit of a wally at the best of times, but he isn’t who he thinks that he is.
