Will Canada Capitulate To Trump?
And are we witnessing the start of the second American empire?
That America’s decline is upon us is completely beyond dispute.
But it isn’t quite prepared to accept its fate. And judging by Trump rhetoric, the man’s absolutely determined to ensure that America emerges through its current travails stronger than ever.
And at the heart of this are colonialism and protectionism.
And quite interestingly, the British model is something of an inspiration here.
Long before England went out to Africa, Asia, North and South America, Australia and other parts of the globe to wipe out native populations and plunder their resources, it perfected the imperialist paradigm on the Scots, Welsh and the Irish.
In a series of wars, it set about subjugating its neighbours in the worst way imaginable to have complete strategic control over its seas.
Memories of the genocide of the Irish through starvation, remain strong as ever, nearly two centuries since the crime was committed.
And once the union of Great Britain and Northern Ireland came into being, could the destructive business of empire building really take place.
And guess what?
