If your politics are skewed to the left or right of center, the United States of America and the Republic of France aren’t the best places to be right now.

The electoral triumph of National Rally across the channel is full confirmation of the degree to which fascism has eaten deep into the French polity.

The pushbacks in 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017 did give us the impression that the far right in France could be successfully contained.

But the results filtering through have shown that the National Rally will become the majority party in the French parliament and might possibly produce the next President.

The Republic of France, however, isn’t the only point of concern.

The political arm of the judiciary of the United States of America made the all-important decision to grant the profoundly racist and corrupt Trump immunity from his crimes, thereby making his path to the White House, a lot smoother than it was a few months ago.
