Medium is in crisis.

The numbers aren’t looking too good and the expansion of the Partner Program isn’t helping in any way, shape or form.

The big name writers, who once could be relied upon to attract vast numbers of new readers and scribes have all deserted the sinking ship.

While I was among those quite critical of Jessica Wildfire, umair haque, Tim Denning, Shannon Ashley and indi.ca, it must be pointed out that these players are box office: they educated hundreds of thousands of people across the world on politics, economics, climate change, globalization, employment, poverty etc.

And it is no coincidence that ever since these writers reduced their commitments on Medium, things have never been the same.

And when I expand the remit of the conversation to include Dr Mehmet Yildiz (Main) of Illumination, do you begin to appreciate how much things have gone downhill.

You don’t need to be the Chief Executive Officer of a large organization to know that you need to recruit the very best talents to stand a chance of growth and success.
