Another chapter unfolds in the Russian war…

Forgive me for sounding like a broken record.

Back in February when I wrote a riposte to a nonsensical article by an esteemed colleague, there were those who thought that I had gone too far in making the case for an American victory.

And when I published a post about the Russian leader’s state of mind, given his erroneous calculations followed by his televised address to the Russian people warning them of the long and hard effects of the sanctions brought about by the invasion of Ukraine, I might have given the impression of overreaching.

But since then so much has happened.

Russia was expelled from the swift system and as if that wasn’t bad enough, oligarchs with very strong connections to Kremlin, who would have been expected to play a huge role in bankrolling the Ukrainian invasion had their assets frozen, thereby turning off the faucet of easy money for Vladimir Putin.

And this single act of freezing billions of dollars, helped ensure that what would have been a cake walk for the Russian bear has turned out to be a protracted war; not too dissimilar to Russia’s misadventures in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
